vacuum advance hose. Metal or rubber

I had a metal line and it's somewhat distorted. Can I use just a rubber hose until I bend one up? Anyone make one out of stainless steel?

Re: vacuum advance hose. Metal or rubber

I've used both rubber and metal. Couple of months ago I bought some coated metal tubing from Auto Zone and with a tube bender made one to replace the rubber hose. It just looked neater than the rubber and I could bend it to fit where I wanted it to go.

forgot to mention... this is on my six cylnder.

Originally mine came with a metal line, connected with rubber tubing. It has since disapeared, and I am using all rubber tubing for it now.

Several companies make them from stainless or OEM material. YOu can bend one yourself unless you want the factory appearance. Classic tube and inline both offer them, but I think I remember you have problems with brake lines so you may have to shop around, but to my knowledge not many if any of the venders carry these.

Re: vacuum advance hose. Metal or rubber

Thanks! I might look into making a stainless one after my truck is running.
