New Seat Belts - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Well, after pulling out the seat and original belts, we installed the 3 point belts that were supposed to fit the truck, but the female ends are too long and when you cinch things up tight, the buckle ends up in the middle of your lap instead of over to the inside close to the seat. The shoulder belt doesn't run across the torso like it should either. I'll probably have to take them to an upholstery shop and have the cut down and re sewn.

If I put the driver's male into the passenger female and vice versa, they fit pretty good, but the retractors are all the way out and there is no room to lean forward to get to the heater controls etc... At least we were able to put the seat in with eight brand new bolts instead of the TWO old bolts that had been holding it in. Just wanted to vent a bit.

Thought it was all going to go great, but you know how these things are.

The retractor end of things went in perfectly. It's the female receptacle ends they plug into that are too long. I bought them off the bay from a seller specializing in seat belts. Good feedback etc... How long are your receptacle pieces? If yours work, I'd like to know just how long they are supposed to be.

Mine are a tick short. I bought an extension piece, but haven't installed it yet.

Yep, mine are way longer than that. Just the part that comes through the seat is about 7" long! About all I can do for now is try moving the seat up, but I don't really want to (I'm 6'1") that might get me by until I can have them cut down. I'll talk to the seller and see if they can send me shorter pieces first.

I am running short buckets because I am a tall guy and I dont like bumping my head on the roof and I have been worried about the female being too long as well. I really dont know what to do about it either

One seller that I didn't go with said you might have to take his to a shop and get them cut and re sewn. Moving my seat up helped. They are closer to where they should be, but I don't like the seat up that far. I'm past the 7 day return period for the eBay transaction, so if he won't let me swap them for shorter ones, I'll have to have them cut down.

Looks like the guy I bought them from is going to make it right. Can someone give me an approximate correct length for the receptacle belt on a 3 point set-up on these trucks. I'm figuring mine need to be at least four inches shorter, but I'd like a 2nd. or 3rd opinion on that.

Sorry to hear that. I bought the same seatbelts, and I had to have the female ends cut down and re-sewn. Only difference is, the seller told me this would need to be done ahead of time.

Looks like he's going to swap me the right length pieces. It's a little hard to measure the ones I have when they are in the truck, but they seem to be 21" or so. I'm thinking they need to be 13"-15", but I'm hoping someone with a good set up will tell me what length they should be so I can let the seller know.

Why don't you pull one out of your truck and measure? Only one bolt, then you'll know exactly what you need.
