ex - 6.2 Diesel: What are these "boxes"???
Hello,
does anybody know, what job these parts do ? As I mentioned above, my truck has been a diesel - I converted it to a gasoline V8 (305cui bored .30 over etc..) BUT I really`have NO idea what these boxes are.... Greetinx Rob Both boxes are mounted under the dash - one was attached on the steering column. The other one near the firewall ....???! |

The one on the steering column is for intermittent windshield wipers. The firewall mounted box (above accelerator pedal) is for cruise control.

Joe, - thank you for your quick reply - now I know I have to keep at least the box for the wipers - the cruise control wasn`t functional any more ... so I will get rid of the cruise control stuff to keep things more "transparent" ....
one problem less... |

I went that way too because the smallblock gas engines are way cheaper to maintain and look a million times better when dressed up a little plus the smell of gas is nicer than diesel!
I have to admit that mine is no worktruck and that was the main reason to get rid of the diesel. The 6.2 liter diesel was a very strong and mean motor and for offroading and pulling trailers and working it is a great choice! Volker

Thats too bad you didnt leave the diesel. Your truck could've been so unique. The 6.2's clean up VERY nicely. Plus imo they cost the same to maintain. But since you are in Germany it is probably easier to get parts for a small block than a 6.2. I hope you didnt junk the 6.2.

Each one has his rights and wrongs but nowadays with the gasprices and the availability of parts the diesel isnīt the baddest choice! But i wonīt swith back to the 6.2 only choice would be a duramax with allison tranny! Volker
