Anybody else tried this?

I needed a quick solution to my rusty tailgate chains. Came across this at Lowe's-galvanized vinyl coated cable-don't know how long it will last but serves the purpose for now

Wow man that is a great idea I have wondered for years how to support the tail gate better with out those nasty paint chipping chains.

And it's only 50 cents a foot for the cable,plus a couple dollars for the ferrules!

That is a good idea Doesnt look bad at all, it looks good
Maybe now you should powdercoat the eyelet and the funky s hook to match the truck paint and it just might look even better to where you didnt need the chains anymore

I would heat shrink the entire cable to eliminate scratching... Looks good!
