Re: Cherry Bomb vs Flowmaster series 40
Flowmasters hands down. Not to offend anyone but I think 12 inch glass packs sound like crap. I have had a truck with 12 inch glass packs before. I liked it at the time. I was 17 I am 27 now I guess I outgrew them

Re: Cherry Bomb vs Flowmaster series 40
I pulled off my glass packs and they were quite long IIRC ~ 24 in or so. They didn't sound bad, but I wanted something that set me apart from all the over commercialized flowmastes.
But I do remember they were heavy! s/t

Re: Cherry Bomb vs Flowmaster series 40
FLowmasters provide some good sounding notes, and I almost bought me some super44's last week, but after hearing some "SPINTECHS" on a 70 truck outside of Napa the other day. my mind has been changed.
Spintechs are the way to go! http://www.spintechmufflers.com/spin...ntechindex.asp I would consider them for sure! |

Re: Cherry Bomb vs Flowmaster series 40
SPINTECHS.....
They sound great, And make more power (gee I guess that doesnt matter)... You know why they started making Cherry Bombs "again?" Because they Quit, thats why!... along time ago newer technology made glasspacks obsolete. Besides sounding like raspy flatulance, they create backpressure..... backpressure is what you are trying to eliminate on a V-8.... hence the development of equal length headers and X pipes.... And Good Free Flowing Mufflers. Loud doesnt neccessarily mean Power! If you have a 50's traditional Hotrod... I Guess they are OK. I was a kid back then and me and my brother had them on our truck. I wouldnt use them now, and I dont watch a black and white TV either. JMHO |

Re: Cherry Bomb vs Flowmaster series 40
I haven't made a cool video, need to learn, but hands down flowmasters. I had a set of glasspacks on my 67 cutlass in high school. I like them then because there was nothing like buzzing the gym after a football game, but for a good tone go flow. I'm running 40 series 2 1/2 inch on my truck now. I have Dynamax shorty headers, 2 1/2 pipe, and it's dumped right in front of the rear end. Looking at my truck from the rear you can't even see the pipes. When I cranked it for the first time it was music to my ears.

Re: Cherry Bomb vs Flowmaster series 40
Personally, I loved my glasspacks. I just didn't love the attention I got from Jon Law.
They were about 28 inches long, and had a nice mellow sound in my opinion. Put them right about the headers, and them piped out in front of the rear wheels. It talked when you wanted it to, and going through tunnels with the windows down was always fun. But, thats just me. To each their own. -Sam.

Re: Cherry Bomb vs Flowmaster series 40
Apples or oranges,apples or oranges,I can`t decide.
What about grapes, bananas, and watermelons? bTW,cherry Bombs don`t make more power than Flowmasters. The difference is no-tech vs lo-tech.Unless you`re talking about acherry bomb chambered cans. Try to listen to DynaFlow 6" rounds behind a big block. You might like them.Ricor 3" diesel mufflers sound awesome, too. That`s what BD Diesel uses as well as big trucks to get big block sound out of a diesel.
