help me with an idea for a hinge for my door

the blazer i bought has half doors welded and the top portion of the door was just a flat piece which i would like to retain part of because its drilled for the drop in vinyl windows. I'm skinning the outside of the doors to keep the body curves. I need the door to kick out to pivot forward. any ideas? similar to a fuel door type hinge? heres a few pictures

If you have a couple extra sets of stock door hinges around,
I'd mount them on the angled section just below the windshield frame. (front of new door)

Using both will deal with any twist and you'd have a built in door stop.

A lot depends on how complicated you want to get and weather or not you want to keep the uppers removable.

oh deffinatly wanna keep the uppers removable the welded in section is all squared off so I have to room for any part of door to fold inward you understand what I'm sayin, atleast not the way Im lookin at doin the doors now... if ican stiffen up the skin I could eliminate the inner and maybe gain some options...

If you hinge off of that 45 % angle, it will always flip open an down. Unless your bottom hinge is below your top hinge it can't open straight. I would cut it back to the original door frame on top and then put your door skin on?

And please don't take this wrong, but those doors, in my opinion would not look right on anything but a Blazer?

Re: help me with an idea for a hinge for my door

just use one beefy hinge at the top of the door frame...maybe one off an older truck or car like a 48 to 53 chevy might work or just make it .lol.. umm a big barn door hinge from lowes, make the pin where you can just pull it out and take off the door too...lol jk

Maybe make the opening a little bigger. Make the first part of the door a verticle drop, say 12". That way you would have 2 hinges in line. Then cut the angle.
