Im looking to swap out the original 6 lug rear end on my 69 to something 5 lug. It is my understanding that on the 69 you cannot just change the axle rods. What are some opinions on rear ends? ....Other than a firm one is a good thing.... I would prefer one capable of high speed over a stump pulling granny gear'd rig...

You can order axels and drums but its like 300 or so. I put a 72 rear in mine the I picked up for 150. Now I just need to come up with a rear brake hose.

is the hose between your 68 the 72 rear diff. ?

Yeah they are different. They hook up to the hard line in a different place and they are different on the part that mounts to the rear end
