how many volts does the choke

how many volts does the choke need to receive to work correctly? i'm only getting 2.5-3.0 volts and it kinda acts like it stays on.

Re: how many volts does the choke

Not sure which year you have, but in mine, the choke is on the same circuit as an oil temp or pressure sender. (It needs to be on a switched power source.)

Sometimes the choke goes, and sometimes its the sensor that's messing up the components downstream.

This is way ahead of where you are now, but if find the power source is hosed and you don't want to play detective with the harness, the windshield wiper motor is switched power.

Re: how many volts does the choke

thanks guys my old truck ran with 12 volts i was just checking. what happened i got my new engine (383) put in and i had some aftermarket gages put in also. they cut the wire to the oil sending unit and my choke light stays on and since then the choke had stayed on too.
