700r4 ?
I had shop put in this rebuilt tranny about 6 months ago and it quit working a couple of days ago. Heres what happened, was warming up the truck to go home from work while in the cab a short loud rumble came from somewhere, I turned off the truck checked for leaks, none, started it back up and it wouldn't move. Checked the fluid level, fine;color was good, no blown fuses, just won't move in either direction. If its the convertor does anyone know if turbo 350s convertors are the same? Thanks.........

Will it move at all in D or R?
Need more info. I have seen pumps go bad, sun shells break, and very seldom the converters go out. Can you give any more details? Was it overheated at all? was the TV cable adjusted properly? And no you will need a TC from a 700R4 the 350 wont work.

700r4 UPDATE
Hey everybody thanks for all the info, BUT unfortinately I have some bad news. The pump's no good, it blew apart, litterly. The shop that put this together used old (original) parts to overhaul this. Some of the clutches were a mix and match, the vertor was bad from the factory, the center weld on the knob(?) was off center just enough to cause a slight wabble, thus making this wiggle as it turned. To answer some of the ?'s from posts, it didn't overheat, no D or R, TV cable was taut, and now back to a turbo 350 I go, good thing I have a rebuilt 1 in the shop, bad thing is now I have to get a driveline cut and balanced again, I have several of those too.I let ya know how it goes in when I"m lightin" up this weekend to blow out the soot and vent my frustrations. Thanks again...c-ya!

Why do you have to use the TH350? Can't you get the shop to fix the 700R4, or did I miss something? Granted, it's been 6 months, but come on, with mix and matched parts, that's just a crock.

Yeah, sounds kinda fishey to me.
If they won't fix it...I would spread a pretty bad work about them. |

I figured it may have been the pump as I posted above
I have seen many of them go bad from a bad converter. Way too common of a problem here. The part you are talking about that was welded wrong sits in agaist the crank and gives the converter somthing to ride...... While the flexplate is bolted to the outer edges if the center of the converter is not in the middle it will wobble and that can cause all kinds of bad things to the pump I would have a talk with the shop and see what happens or take them to to civil court. Sounds like they did a 1/2 ass job ,plus used cheap parts and they need to pay for it to be fixed or fix it themselves. Most people think of a 700R4 as week because of shops like this. I hear all the time well my 700 only lasted a few months before it went. Bad trans shop end of story here. BTW there is a little more to adjusting the TV valve than just having it tight. It also adjusts shift timming, feel, as well as internal pressure. Keep us posted on this one.
