column shifter issue

ok when i go to reverse i have to kinda play with the handle to find reverse then hold it there but if i go to drive , 2nd,low it stays fine with out any problems at all

my question is that in the column itself of is that part of the linkage to the trans???

and how do i fix that ???

any one ?? seems like the reverse light dont come on when i find reverse either its just a little past that

welcome to the board
This topic has come up a few times in the last week or two. It's due to a poor design, and being 40 years old.\
you can try squirting some lube into the column, like where the shift arm comes out, and then some at the bottom of the column where the shift linkage hooks up (under the hood) if you have someone shifting the tranny (foot on brake, engine off) with you leaning over the fender, it'll be obviouse where to spray the lube.
