remind me on disc brakes
When doing a four wheel disc conversion, what brakes are used that have the lever operated park brake?
Caddy? What year? I have a set that I am ready to build and I can't remember what they came off of.

Re: remind me on disc brakes
I would use the Impala SS rear rotors(94-96) and ~95 Camaro calipers. The brackets are made by some people on this board.

Re: remind me on disc brakes
As I stated, I have the calipers. Just can't remember what year caddy. I also have the brackets, spacers, everything needed. I have a machine shop so I make my own stuff.
76-79 Seville or Deville seems right?

Re: remind me on disc brakes
Thanks. I seem to remember someone saying that these are hard to find new and I would need cores for the parts store so I bought these about 4 years ago from a board member. Then I forgot what they were.
I also seem to remember that I will need the spring and arm for the e-brake as the new ones don't come with that. Headed to the parts store soon.

Re: remind me on disc brakes
They look like the ones I have on my truck.
I was told they came from a late 70's Eldorado. Cya, Edmond

Re: remind me on disc brakes
Well, this is still ongoing.
Went to the local auto parts store and they ordered in a rebuilt set and planned to take mine as cores. Before I went, I looked them up on the net and found several listings with all showing the left and right as casting #'s 224. Mine has 224 on the RH but 223 on the LH. They ordered them in and the boxes (A1Cardone) were 18-4118 and 18-4119 listed as RH and LH. Both were RH and casting 224. I have to go back on Monday to get it straightened out because the RH was a direct order part but the LH was a special order and was prepaid and charged freight. Now they say since I don't want it ( Hello, the box said LH but the caliper inside was RH) I will still have to pay the freight. Does anyone have a set of these where they can look at the casting numbers?

Re: remind me on disc brakes
I don`t.But,you are right and they are wrong. You provided all the info, more than most orders. It don`t work that way in my world.I`d be their worst nightmare if they didn`t eat the charges on improperly packged and/or listed parts. The actual parts are "FACT",the listings and packaging are "THEORY",right?
How could the be the same part with a mechanical lever that has to oppose the other? Are they bisymetrical? The fact that there are different numbers on the boxes and your parts should show they are assymetrical(like most brake cyl/calipers I`ve ever seen. ***Side note off topic: Did you get out to hunt those big morrells you guys have out that way this year?I came up with a pretty decent bunch a couple weeks ago up on the family land.i was remembering your thread.ours are smaller in the Appalachians.

Re: remind me on disc brakes
yes, we found about 18 pounds all in one spot. Most were 6-8 inches tall. I found three total on my farm. Lots of rain and cold -hot changes. Not a good year in my opinion but some folks found lots.
The other thing is that by using two rights would put one bleeder on the bottom. Not the best method. And you are right on the spiral. I need the e-brakes to work.

Re: remind me on disc brakes
Kevin, I checked the part numbers for the calipers with e-brake that I ordered a few years back.
They are Raybestos: left rear rc6022 and right is rc6021 From a 76 to 78 Eldorado. Hope this helps. Cya, Edmond
