Yeah that's cool that your wife and kids were willing to get involved and help out. IMO what you're calling a "turd" looks pretty darn good. What color are you shootin it?

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd
Thanks.
My kids have never known anything but cars, cruises, shows etc since birth. I've had, mmmm, maybe around 25 or so, pre-65 cars and trucks in the past 16-18yrs, so they're very used to it. And my wife is the best. She has done so much on so many cars. She stripped my 53 Suburban to bare metal all by herself with chemical stripper. I have lots of pics of her in action. And my daughter asked one of my buddys to drive her to homecoming in his raw, loud and bagged 49 ford 2 yrs ago. She was the only girl, wearing Chucks at the dance! haha. Love my kids. And as for the Turd. Its sort of tongue-n-cheek. I got a smokin deal on this truck, and its really a nice clean truck. We had to do very little work. Minor dings, and very few bubbles. It will be PPG Fire Red base-coat with hardener so it stays a satin finish. No clear.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd
I can't wait to see it painted. It's nice to see that cars (and trucks) are a family affair too. My eight year old daughter likes to help me with my stuff. I wish the wife and my other daughter did. I could use the extra hands to get more done.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd
Thanks guys.
That homecoming pic was 2yrs ago, and that goofy kid she went with was scared silly by me and my buddys. I'm a slender 6'1 and 340lbs, and my buddys are all big tatted up car guys. We all were at my house when he showed up to go with her. It was funny. Glad he's no longer around. haha. I am lucky, I know. My wife is the best. She's a true car girl. And the kids are totally into it. Hoping the truck will be in color later tonight. So stay tuned.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd
Heres a quick pic from 1am last night. Its red now. This was when the paint was pretty wet. It will flatten out once dry.
Its Omni base coat with hardener added and no clear, so I hope it ends up a nice satin finish.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd
Thanks.
Now my dilemma's start. Bumpers, grille, and marker lite things in the hood will be white. I'm torn about the roof. Original plan was white, now thinking leave it red.... And I have new cherry wood and steel strips for the bed floor, but....For one, I dont care for cherry wood. Two, I want to be able to haul stuff like a truck, up to and including Model A bodies, etc. So the wood will get boogered up quick I'm affraid. Then, I always have a plan right away about wheels and tires. I'm a hotrod guy. You can see my style in past posts of my previous rides. This will have wide whitewalls. It would make baby jesus cry if it didn't But wheels.... I'm leaving the stock steel wheels, cuz thats just how I roll. I thought Id go with gloss black steelies on the www's, but now not sure. White wheels will clash with www's, red seems to be too much. Torn I tell ya.
