Maybe the offset you were asking about has something to do with AC

can anyone tell me which is the top on this shroud? Also, why is a 4x4 shroud different? Heavy duty cooling? larger radiator? The opening seems offset.

On the 4x4 frame, the motor sits further back, closer to to the firewall. As pictured, that is the top rail.
