Re: Sneak Peek

Very nice.

When you weld CrMo what kind of filler do you use? Just a standard 70s, or do you use the 80s, or even a 312 rod? I love 312 when welding chromoly.

Re: Sneak Peek

NOICH! I'm glad you decided to do the chromoly. They will be the only ones like 'em on the market- 'til someone steals the idea...

- Looks like the lower plates are broken and then welded- stronger that way?
- Drilled for both stock and DM bag mounts?
- Accept stock cross-shafts and BJs?

I hope you've got some help in that new shop 'cause you're about to get really busy...

We use the 70s filler rod.

Stress relieving is recommended for parts greater than .120 wall. Being the tubing we are using is .120 it is not considered to be necessary.

It will be. I don't have all the pricing options broken down as of yet, but will within the next few days. They will be offered from bare bones, to completely assembled with powder coat.

The lower plates are welded... you can argue they are stronger this way.

Yes, they are drilled for both stock and DM bag mounting locations.

They accept factory ball joints, and factory bushings/cross-shafts from 73-87

Fortunately I do have some very talented help in the shop. As you can see, he is an incredible TIG welder... he's getting pretty good with the MIG as well! (Thanks Brooks!)

Are there any weight savings using the chromoly, or is it used strictly for strength? I think .120 wall is prety standard for control arm tubing- correct?

The main advantages of the chromoly are both weight savings and strength. I will doing some weight comparisons today.

Chromoly is not lighter than a piece of 1020 DOM of the same size and thickness. It is just stronger, which allows you to run a thinner tube. That is where the weight savings come from.
