Speedometer
My speedometer has stop working. Is there a way to repair it or do I have to find another one. I have checked the cable and it is working fine it is just the mileage meter. My mileage is at 73,000 and I would like to stay right there because it is the original miles. Any suggestions
Thanks Drew67

if you've verified that the cable is turning ok, I suppose you could have the speedo looked at, not sure how repairable they are, but I'm sure the cost will be more than just replacing it...maybe put another one in while it's being looked at..??

If all else fails, you should be able to pick another one up at a swap meet relatively cheap. Then, take you a hand drill and spin the speedo until the mileage matches your original one.

I tried the drill thing, only ran it like 34 MPH or something...not fast enough to make it worth the time.
I wouldn't go to the swap meat...I'd check the junk yards first. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. you can also pull the whole dial and turn the numbers where you need them. should only be 2 screws on the face of the speedo.

I have worked on a couple of these and you can take it apart and change the milage by hand, but you will have to find a small peice of card board to hold the pins in place afterward so the odometer will work without always being in the middle of the numbers.
