Rally wheel ?

Is there any difference in rally wheels from a van vs. truck ? Are the widths different ?

I am pretty sure all vans had 15 by 7 inch wheels, trucks had 15 by 7 standard, and 15 by 8 optional. This is all 5 lug wheel talk.
The 6 lug rallys were only on the 4X4 trucks, and only in 8 inch width

I have heard some van rallys are 6 1/2" wide. I believe Kevin (Rokcrln) has some on his project low buck. Anyway there are several width rallys out there from OEM but you can get pretty much any size you want through the aftermarket like Wheel Vintiques, Pete Paulsen and others.

Thats good to know since I have been looking to get some for my 67 so I can complete the 72 5 lug swap. I found a set here locally off a truck I will look at today. I hope I can finish the swap sometime soon. I want to drive her already

Van rallys are 15x6.5''.

They work great on lowered trucks. Van rallys in the front, truck in the rear. Gives it the proper Texas big-n-little look.

That is a great look, but today I seen my friends 67 with a 4/6 drop and 22's and I am jealous. They look good but now I must go 20"+

I will never understand the deal with ultra big wheels.

Back in 1994, I ordered a brand new short bed Silverado through the dealership where I worked. I ordered a Bell Tech 4/6 drop kit and a set of Centerline 17x8 inch billet wheels from Summit the same day.

As soon as I got the truck, we pulled it into the shop and did the spindles, springs and rear flip kit. I put the 17s on with 255/50/17 tires (pretty beefy actually).

I was the first guy around with 17 inch wheels. I was a regular pimp around here. All of the local yokels lusted over my truck.

I bent three front wheels in the first year. They got damaged at freeway speeds hitting holes and such in the road. I never rubbed a curb or hit anything that wasn't a fault in the roadway.

If I had all of that trouble with 50 series 17 inch tires and wheels, I can not even imagine the hell that 22 inch wheels must give, getting bent all the time.

To me, it's just not worth the heartache of having 1000 plus dollars two inches off the road, protected by a thin bit of rubber from all the hazards out there.

Back to the original question. Most van wheels i have seen are 15x7. I think there was a 6 or 6 1/2 inch van wheel also. All the truck wheels i have seen were 15x8. The 6 lug rally wheels have been mainly 15x8. I have seen a 15x7 6 lug rally the was an original spare in a 76 chevy truck. That is the only one of those i have seen...

To me the 15x8 six lug ralleys are the perfect wheel for nice looking truck with six hole drums that you don't want to break the budget on.
I'm not too familiar with the van and 5 lug ralleys as far as widths go.

As far as the mega oversize cartoon car wheels, they just aren't my style and I can't see tying up several thousand dollars in a set of wheels and tires that will most likely be out of style and dated by next year.
I do realize that at 62 instead of 22 I don't get up in the fad of the moment like a lot of the other guys do.

i also got a set of rally rims from the junk yard off a van and noticed that the inside of the rim is about an inch deeper then the truck ones but cant really tell much just put them on the back

I ran intro 22's for two years with 295 30 22 never bent one. I did bend an eagle 17 with 40 series tires runing up and down the high way. I think it was the quality of the wheel

It probably had a lot more to do with a very careful driver and the fact that Texas roads as a norm are in a lot better shape than Washington or a lot of other states roads. Your farm-market roads are usually in better shape than out main state highways including the one going past my house which is the main North/South highway in Central Wa.

Our roads are really pretty good around here. I have found that the guys around here who complain about the roads haven't driven much on roads in other areas.
