What did you get done? 04/26

I spent the weekend in Reno, NV watching my daughter play volleyball. We were at the convention center most of the weekend, but did get a break Saturday morning. We decided to take the girls for a scenic drive to Lake Tahoe for brunch.

We stopped at a neat little local cafe to eat, then headed to the Lake Tahoe beach. The temp was 29 degrees so we didn't stay long, but it was an awesome place to visit.

What did you get done?

Looks fun. How was the tourney? I got absolutely nothing done on my truck. My daughter and I went to Lowe's to get a new hose for the yard and look at flowers to plant next week sometime.

Re: What did you get done? 04/26

Installed the drop spindles on the '83. Also cut 1 coil out of the springs. Painted and reinstalled everything (new rotors, rebuilt calipers, all new bearings and seals, and brake hoses). Also changed out the proportioning valve for the 4-wheel disc mod I'm doing. Painted the new master cylinder and repainted the original brake booster, but I still need to bench bleed the master cylinder before I can put everything back together. Next weekend, I plan on starting on the rear brakes. I have all the parts, but I still need to blast the brackets, repaint, and install the c-notch .

The suspension wound up being a 5/7 drop after I was through, and I like the look. When you lower the jack and it won't come out from under the crossmember, it's perfect.

Cool Re: What did you get done? 04/26

well this weekend, I installed and "new"*old* 4mv qjet on my truck. got the manual choke hooked up and everything but the vacuum line to the brakes. I have to re-route that, I think I am going to hook that up to the line that goes to the PCV valve. I put a gauge on that line and was getting min. 18 psi. so it should be good. man does the old truck run SO MUCH BETTER with that carb in there! before it couldn't stay running in gear. when I moved in January the truck died at every stop light and it wore that battery all the way down! even to the point that I couldn't jump start. so we had to buy a new battery lol. now it is working so much better! I love it! I don't know if you can tell but I am very excited! lol cant wait to take her for a drive! the truck is my first car ever for me so I am trying to keep it as long as I can. lol that truck, even with its many problems and never let me down! sure, it took me 2 and a half hours and two battery's to drive 13 miles to the new house. but it got me there! that's a for you!

Re: What did you get done? 04/26

Went to the Super Chevy show near Richmond on Saturday. I was really disappointed with the low vendor turnout. The swap meet was decent, just too many folks thinking their stuff is gold plated.

Here's some random truck shots..............

Re: What did you get done? 04/26

Spent the weekend nursing the generator. 10 minutes of 60mph wind = 2 days without power. Needed the generator to keep the sump pump going. Got 6" of rain over the past 5 days with mmore to come... at least the power is back on.

Re: What did you get done? 04/26

Well I prepared my truck to receive it's A/C and New seats. Also if anyone can tell me the height of the bottom of the stock bench seat from the floor that would be great.

Oh I also installed new door jamb switches and a new modulator valve now the trans shifts as it should!

Re: What did you get done? 04/26

While I didnt get anything "done" to my truck over the weekend, I did purchase and got a sweet deal through ACC on new carpet, lower door panels, kick panels and embroidered floor mats at Carlisle on Friday....new steering wheels and fix my gauge issues along with something simple for the stereo and my interior will be complete!!!

Nothing truck-wise, but I drilled and staked a turret board for a single channel Blackface Deluxe Reverb-ish amp that I need to have done for the amp show in 2 weeks.

Re: What did you get done? 04/26

I unexpectedly, like most times i suppose, replaced all the rear brake components on the 87, bled the brakes (only the second time ever doin that, worked better than the first time...), then got to work on the interior. Took out all my sub and amp stuff, tore apart the dash to fix the illumination wiring issue (im an idiot, was a blown fuse that i didnt notice the first time...), and installed LEDs in the cluster for a now true blue color....also gave it a good wash....was a good weekend....

Replaced a squeaky U-joint, began preparations on my demo-derby car. Found 2 other cars....

And started on this.

Havent messed with the 76 yet. After I get a couple other big projects done, I will dig it back out and get more done on it. If I happen across some funds, it will get some drop spindles, springs and a flip kit. Till then, gotta keep werkin on the cars.

Thanks. It was my first car, bought it way back when I was 13 in the early 80s. Just finished the paint job I started on it in 1986. I put a lot of work into it so far, and I am still about $1000 from it being drivable. Maybe I should sell the 76 to fund some of these projects..
