Re: Platic or metal gas tank?

depends on what you like.. good and bad about both. Poly tank won't rust which is a plus... Metal tank is "like original" and could be undercoated...

50/50 for me so I went with aluminum, but that's was a truck conversion reason..

Re: Platic or metal gas tank?

I never cared for the way the straps fitted on my plastic, so I went metal on the other project.

Re: Platic or metal gas tank?

I replaced my OE tank with a PolyEthelane 'look-a-like' tank. Had to modify the filler as it is much much shorter than OE. It worked, after the first year I started getting a huge leak at the top were the sending unit o-ring seal is. It only leaked if I filled the tank.
The next year I replaced it with a 37gal NWMP tank, steel. It is a huge tank and I modified it to mount higher than it came from NWMP as it hangs kinda low.

Re: Platic or metal gas tank?

If you go metal which I did you will need someone to remove the old tank neck and put it on to the new, I say this only because we once had dozens of radiator repair places etc. I was lucky to find one guy who could do it. Most of those places atleast here were gone. Metal all the way
