When it rains it pours !

Not talking about the weather although around here its appropriate. In the last week Ive picked up 3 vehicles.

I bought a 86 1 ton van from work with a 454 and a 4L80 transmission for $900. Its also got a posi rear end. Just bought it for parts. Its got over 150,000 miles on it and I know no one has been maintaining it on schedule. thought it a good deal nonetheless.

My Uncle GAVE me a 57 panel wagon. Needs a lot of work but its reasonably straight

A guy a at work GAVE me a 76 Datsun 280Z today. That might sound like the odd man out but if you have never ridden in a 280Z thats had a small block chevy installed then you have missed the boat in a big way. Those things weigh 2500 lbs with a small block chevy and small block chevies fit in those long ass engine compartments with room to spare! 350 HP will bring you into the low 12's in one of those 10 foot long rockets

Trying to figure out which way to go here. I'd love to build the 57 but that might be too expensive. Might just hold on to it in storage for a while. The van's getting parted ASAP ! The 280z. God, it sounds like fun! I think I'll be filling up my dads back yard until I figure out what to do. Might sell off my truck but I'd hate to do that. No room here for a bunch of projects and the wife has lost all understanding after the last few years at $10,000 a year on projects...I'm a junkie !!!!

I'd take the 454 and the 4L80E and slap into the 57 panel. And do a slam jam on the body and do some cheap interior work, and put a set of nice 2nd hand cheap 18"-20" wheels on it and sell it for a big profit. Then buy a 64-66 chevy panel. I love them! LOL

Build the 57, it's a good investment.

How about some pics? Especially of the panel.

im seeing 2 toys in your future... a panel with a big block, and a 280Z both sound like too much fun to choose, so i'd stick with both. are you sure that's a 4L80E? i dont believe that trans came out until the mid 90s.
