Front end removal for engine swap.

hey guys, im new to the forums, but i have had a 66 chevy c-10 for about 2 years now. i am doing an engine swap and im going to take the entire front end off. im wondering if anybody can tell me exactly how many bolts i need to take out and where they are.

3 each side for the rear of the fender.
3 each side for the rear of the fenderwell.
about 6 to remove the column surround on the driver fender well.
2 in the front for the rad support to the frame.

awesome, thank you. are the two in the front bolted onto the frame? i think i have all except one on the driver side fender and the ones around the steering column.

the new edit feature sucks!
here it is again:
3 each side for the rear of the fender.-2 under the cowl panel,and one underneth by the rocker each side.
3 each side for the rear of the fenderwell.2-2 up high on the fire wall, and one down by the frame.
about 6 to remove the column surround on the driver fender well.
2 in the front for the rad support to the frame.

you will have to remove the cowl panels to get to the fender bolts, 3 bolts each cowl panel.

you will have to unplug the wiring harness from the firewall, and you might want to remove the hood,you don't have to, but I imagine it would be real heavy with it on.

yes right to the frame on the rad support.they are tricky, sometimes they use a lag bolt? one without a head, sometines the square part on the inside rusts and they just spin when you try to get them off.

this forum is better than any book i could buy, im serious. i have looked for days trying to find a picture or diagram and havent found anything. i will probably try to finish this part of the project tomorrow night. i might even take pictures. i know how you all like pictures. thanks again.

im also wondering about exhaust. im putting a V8 in the truck, so i need new exhaust. is there a place i can order a kit, or should i just have a muffler shop do it?

You will want to allso remove the rad, the upper mount will come off with the front clip but the lower mounts are on the frame cross rail. (well at least take off the upper rad mount)

I just did this yesterday. John nailed it. It's pretty simple. I assume your starting at the grille support, right? You do know that you dont have to take the front end off to do a motor swap, right?

well, the actual motor swap went slicker than snot. slid right in thanks to not having the front clip in the way. im now putting the finishing touches on to get it running. im actually having some carburator problems so thats at the top of my list. other than that there is a ticking, nothing serious, i personally think its the crank hitting the dipstick since its at a weird angle. we will find out once i can get fuel to the carb.
