Re: how to remove bed?

Short wide beds have 4 bolts, nuts on bottom of the bolt, bolts are flat on top and won't spin. There's a plug for the lights underneath on drivers side back by the gate. I have taken my bed off alone but they are heavy! More people the better.

Re: how to remove bed?

It's actually pretty easy. There are 8 bolts (well on mine anyway) and the nuts are under the bed. Well, nine if you count me under there as well.

Unplug the wiring harness from the taillights, there will be a master plug that disconnects everything and look for a grounding strap going from the bed to the frame. May be one there, may not be, just gotta look for it. Depending if you have rear tank, you will need to remove the bolts holding the filler neck to the bedside.

Once you have all that... get 4 strong guys to help you lift it off.

Re: how to remove bed?

longbed has 8 bolts, and unplug the wiring harness that is on the support behind the spare tire location on the drivers side. it really helps to have a lift to take it off, unless you got about 4 people. i used a chain hoist for mine, an engine hoist would do better. i had a board going across the bed under the bedrails hooked to the hoist in the middle. just jack up the bed and drive the truck our from under it.

Re: how to remove bed?

all i did on mine was undo the 8 bolts or should i say break off the 8 bolts.. unplug the wire then me and a buddy tipped it on its side then on its lid and called 3 or 4 more guys to help move it outside... it was hard to do.. make sure u got your eyes covered... bunch of stuff might rub off into your eyes
