soon to be owner of...
this...
1981 gmc 1500 1/2 ton 305 crate w/ 30k auto dual tanks and rust it's got a fair amount of rust. the cab roof seems to be surface. normal amount of rust around the fenders and rocker panels. the bed itself is clean due to the cover. i can't remember the tailgate. i believe the hood is good too. normal cab rust too. all the current owner needs to get before i buy it is a current inspection then i'll have it for $900. not bad in my opinion. especially since it's got the 30k crate motor. opinions, good and bad? |

Looks like a good solid starter truck! Does not look too rusted in those pictures, but we know pictures can lie. $900 seems fair too.

Re: soon to be owner of...
looks pretty good i know without the crate motor its prolly worth about $500 or so so considering the crate motor ( as long as its documented) not a bad deal at all.. there are lots of parts out there for these trucks so it isnt hard to fix at all... what are your plans for it?

Re: soon to be owner of...
i live in king william co just off of rte 360.
my plans for now are just to leave it as is. i may replace panels as money comes up but i got it mainly to haul stuff around. i would like to restore it eventually. very first thing i'll need to do is replace the steering wheel. it's all sticky from the heat and i left with part of it on my hands when i test drove it. as far as the crate motor goes. i was told by the owner and his wife that they've got all the paperwork and who did the work. can't ask for much more. |

Re: soon to be owner of...
i found an 83 if i remember right with no rust at all for 1800 and 96k motor. bad part was the motor had an oil leak all over the driver side. there was so much there i couldn't tell if it was the valve covers or heads. imo i made out better with the crate motor at 30k.
