How rare is a '72 C20 Short Step?

I'm looking to build a lowered project truck and found a C20 shortbed step side for sale near me. While I've never heard of one, is it rare enough here it should be restored? Please give me some feedback. Thanks,
Stephen

GM never built a short wheel base in a 3/4 ton designation.

As far as I know ALL short beds are half tons and ALL 3/4 tons are long beds or longer (longhorns?)

Re: How rare is a '72 C20 Short Step?

I haven't talked to the owner yet, but my suspicion was that it was owner built. Thanks for all the input. I'm looking for a truck to modify, so if this was indeed a rare edition, I'd hate to screw it up. Thanks guys.

Badge or front clip swap is most likely.Second would be a complete cab swap.I don't see shortening a 3/4 without changing to a 1/2 but someone may have had a reason.

Is possible that it is a long bed stepside I have seen a few of those in 72. Does it specify shortbed stepside or just stepside.

The last one I saw posted also had the Rare Corvette engine option. It was a short box 3/4 ton with the corvette engine!

Here is the discussion thread about the Corvette option.

It was an eBay truck and no one put a picture in to show the truck.

By looking at this thread.... what does the corvette option consist of? ....not everyone took my tongue in cheek comment as a joke.

The Corvette option is a running joke due to the number of ads that have been posted with a rare truck, that did not exist. There was no 'vette option.....

Re: How rare is a '72 C20 Short Step?

Hey guys, I talked to the owner today and he confirmed that the truck come from the factory as a half ton. His father modified the truck years ago with 3/4 ton spindles and rear end in order to pull a heavy hay trailer. Thanks for all the input guys.
