Interesting and Rare??
Been messing with 67-72 trucks since 81. Have had a dozen or more and have been to virtually hundreds of swap meets etc and have never seen these before. Told they are 67-78 GMC delux cab caps. Three are excellent while one has a couple of curb dings. Anyone have a clue to pricing them? Huck

Re: Interesting and Rare??
There is a site online that sells hubcaps (Original ones) can't find it now in my favorites. They do not show those at all. I think its a good find.

Re: Interesting and Rare??
I remember my Grandpa's 76 had the Chevy version on those hub caps on it when I was a kid. They are long now.

Re: Interesting and Rare??
Those are identical to the ones on my 68 Chevy truck---except for the GMC center.
Look at this site for wheelcovers: http://www.hubcaps.org/ Shows your 67/68 GMC caps @$90.00 each.Same for my Chevy! Mike. Last edited by 100%Chevy; 04-28-2009 at 10:18 PM. |

Re: Interesting and Rare??
Minor typo there--should be 67-68. I have seen and have Chevy versions but never seen GMCs before. Maybe Canada issue?? They look pretty good hanging up on the wall of the barn for now. hehehee

Re: Interesting and Rare??
They were avalible, just not many survived. I have sitting right in front of me, a 1968 GMC brochure that shows those hub caps. The circle around the GMC letters is supposed to be a primer gray color, and the letters ar supposed to be red.

Man,
Being a Hub Cap Freak, I would love to get one of those for my Garage wall someday. Those caps are cool!!!!!!!!!! They give that style an appealing look!

Re: Interesting and Rare??
I really need those for my`67 GMC Custom, not Deluxe. That website only has one and they only sell mint condition.I`d be willing to go $125-ish on that set.I actually like the 69-75s better. But,just to have the real deal I`d buy them.I just bought a set of stainless and a set of painted 67/68 outer nun dog dish(very rare) for $50 each set.

Re: Interesting and Rare??
^Jeff,I saw you posted and before I even opened the thread I felt greedy.I was prepared to see you wanted in line.Next flash was that tailgate,so I was prepared to bow out on these,as painful as that would be.
I definately have you in mind for which ever I don`t use.If Paul`s Plating can restore/chrome the steel caps I`ll go that route, sin`r the truck`s a custom (Custom). Back to these eull wheelcovers...nice find.Rare, yet limited demand.I think I`m the only one on the planet who wants them on a trucks...SERIOUSLY!!!!.......................................................................ho w,bout one fitty?

Re: Interesting and Rare??
Yeah, those are definitely from a '67 or '68. I bought some 6 lug rally's from a guy here local that were off his dad's original owner 1968 GMC. Here's what he "threw in" with the deal. The only problem: Dad apparently didn't appreciate the pop in tabs that keep the hubcaps on, so he drilled screws into the steelies AND even had the decency to number them so they all fit correctly. #2 must not have had any problems because its not numbered and doesn't have any screw holes. Nice find Huck, those look to be in great shape!

Re: Interesting and Rare??
I`m the same way,Huck. It doesn`t bother me to have parts around waiting for a truck.Matter of fact,this`67 GMC I`m building started around a clean Palamino Tan clip from Nebraska I nabbed at a swap meet with a friend in mind. His grille was hacked into a tube grille.By the time I ran into him he had traded it to his son.I wanted it anyway.

I have a chance to buy these for a decent price from a local guy. He says they are '72 GMC's and are in good shape. Are they in fact 72's? Sorry about the crappy pics but I think the second one is good enough to see what they are. LockDoc
