A/C or Heater questions

I've got an errant cable from my a/c controls laying on top of the blower box under the dash. Anyone know where it's supposed to go? It's connected to the center lever that switches from A/C to Heater

I'm also wondering what this piece of equipment is supposed to do. I can see that someone has zip tied the shaft in place but I'm not sure why or what it does.

Re: A/C or Heater questions

It looks like the outlet selector cable. Pics attached.

On the other picture question , that is the control for the fresh air door.

Re: A/C or Heater questions

I can't tell enough from that diagram to figure out where it mounts. I can't feel anything on the side of the box that it would connect to. It was just laying on top when I found it. Anybody have their glovebox and can take me a picture of theirs?
