Re: rear wrap around bumper

They were known as Bartons Bumpers and were pretty much a western thing. Is that what you meant?

Re: rear wrap around bumper

I havent put one on, so I am no help there. I did however take one off recently. I bought a parts truck that had one. They are not that much different than step bumpers. They have the same bracket that mounts on the frame, and they had one additional bolt/nut securing it to the bedside.

Re: rear wrap around bumper

I think I have my terminology wrong, I was thinking wrap around as in how the front bumper is. It curves in towards the fender on the ends. The back bumpers are pretty much straight. Ive seem people modify other bumpers so they hug the body better, didnt know if anyone had modified (Foosed) a stock rear bumper to make it curve forward on the ends. I've seen a step side bumper and it wraps forward. It is subtle and if someone did it it would be hard to tell unless you really knew the trucks. The pic is of my 83 because I don't have bumpers on my 71 yet.

The rear bumpers off a 73-87 don't fit 67-72's. I had one on my truck when I got it, but it was hitting the bed (which was total junk, no wonder it was just hammered in to fit.)

I just cut the bumper to be straight so it wouldn't hit my new-to-me bed.

Re: rear wrap around bumper

67-72 rear bumpers don`t return and don`t run past the body by a measurable amount.I`d think modifying one to wrap wouldn`t bring a cleaner look at all. You`d have something there that wasn`t before...adding rather than subtracting.Tucking one would clean it up.If you cut into the bedside and rolled the edges to comform to the bumper with minimum gap would look clean.

Re: rear wrap around bumper

My 72 had a 73-87 Rear Sport(wrap around) bumper on it. The frame was torched to accommodate the 73-87 brackets and to move the bumper in closer.
