Build thread 87-79
well, started out with me goin over to my buddies house, realized he had a shortbox sitting out in the field, looked at it, drooled on it a bit
few days later he phoned me up and said "want the truck" i said yup, how much and he said free went over to grab it with my 81 longbox and flatdeck trailer, 3hrs later i had it on the trailer it was stuck pretty gooder my 81: anyways, got it home, fixed the rear axle (he grenaded it last time he drove it) and gave it a good cleaning turned out to look half decent anyways, started ripping it down because i was going to fix some rust and repaint it and realized that there was ALOT more rust than originally expected (covered wiht bondo and duct tape) so i scrapped the cab and box and bought a parts truck got a 79 2wd from my uncle for 100$ only major rust was on the front cab support (waiting for my friends shop to be cleared so he can fix it) progress so far: frame painted, steeringbox reinforced, upgraded axles, 373 gears installed, motor tuned up (origionally dyno'd at 350hp atw with 307 gears) hoping to get it a bit higher than that with the new gears as it sits, im waiting for the cab to be finished so i can throw the body on the frame. then i get to go box shopping, ill probably build a complete box from lmc parts tho because they're hard to find up here ill get some pics up later as she sits right now |
