99+ frame under 67-72 body

Has anyone ever seen any kind of write up on this. I have a good friend that has built many old trucks with late model frames who says that it is not as big of deal as I think...and I have no reason to doubt him, but I still would like to do some investigation for myself.

Any info would be really appreciated.

To start with, measure the wheelbase of each and compare.

Do you have the skill, ability and time to shorten the frame if necessary?

Actually my friend will do the frame work and I will be on the body. I am not a master fabricator by any means but I knew that someone with the talent could shorten the frame but would the width of the frame be a factor in your opinion?

The closer to the same width the better so you don't have to make drastic changes to the body mounts. I've never looked at the two frames to compare them. Staff member Mudder put his truck on a newer frame but definitely not a frame as new as your considering but he will hopefully chime in with recommendations on what to look out for in general.

Front clip mounts and cab mounts will have to be fabricated. Never done any measuring on a frame that new. Mine is a 77. Pay specical attention to the area on the frame behind the cab and how much it rises. That will probably be where you have a problem. Not sure about the widths either. You need to d a lot of measuring and comparing.

Well if you go this route, be prepared to be very careful with all the wiring. No cutting, remove it in one piece so you can reuse all that has to be reused. Hopefully you won't have to splice to make it longer. I'd almost say the electronics side of this project would be more tedious than the body swap. Considering intergrating the 99+'s dash?
