Did any of "our" trucks ('67-'72) ever come with the option of having the radio antenna in the windshield? (I had a '69 Elky that did)

My '69 is a retired gummint truck, so it has never had a radio antenna.
I have a newly acquired crack in my windshield.
I reckon you can see where this is going, since I'm going to have to replace the windshield one of these days..............................

Does anybody sell a under dash or a hideaway antenna that works.

The problem with these trucks is all the metal. If you hide it under the dash your reception will suck.

I bought a stick up powered antenna from one of the local auto stores, I think it was O'reilly for my 68. I stuck it on the rear window right below the light.

I fed the cables through the cab light access hole, down the passenger side, through the rocker panel channel to the radio. It worked okay in town and not so good out of town. Occasionally I would get some interference but overall it wasn't too bad.

Right now, my "antenna" is in the glove box. Believe it, or not, I can pick up a few FM stations; but I generally just listen to CD's, in both trucks.

The radio I bought crapped out on me so I disconnected the antenna. I had the radio mounted under the dash in a make shift bracket. Guess I'll have to shell out the big bucks and get the one that fits our trucks.

As for the antenna mounting, one guy here mounted a power antenna on the bed of his truck. I thought it was a pretty neat trick. I believe he used the front hole.

Anyway here's a pic of the one I have. I think it was round $22.

How well did that work before your radio went "south for the winter"?

Worked in town fairly well out of town it was somewhat iffy. I guess it would depend on the station and the power they have.

I have two vent cowls now. The original one didn't have the antenna hole and the one I'm using now does. If and when I get a radio, I'm going to try it with the amplified antenna first and if it doesn't work real well, I'll get an antenna that mounts on the cowl.
