New from Tulsa

Hello all. I've been a member for a few months, but I figured I should introduce myself before posting. My name is Jay. I'm from the Tulsa area. I recently purchased a 1978 C10 Silverado Big 10 from my uncle. He bought the truck in 1979 when it was a year old. It has a very stout 355, Edelbrock 650 carb, headers, true dual exhaust, 700r4 tranny, factory tach, tilt, cruise, power windows/locks, ice cold factory air, original am/fm/8-track/cb unit among many other things. This was his baby for almost 30 years and I've always wanted it. I went down to visit for Thanksgiving and there was a for sale sign on it. Needless to say, I went back the following weekend and drove it home 7 hours from Temple, TX. It made the trip perfectly. I even set the cruise at 70 mph most of the way. I believe he added the tilt colum, cruise, power windows/locks and 700r4 a few years after he bought the truck. Anyway, I know how much you guys/gals like pics, so heres a few to quinch your thirst. . . at least temporarily. The first one is the day I picked it up.

Hello George and thanks for the welcome. This is a great forum and I'm excited to become a member. So much information and so many beautiful trucks. I'm addicted. I don't think a day has gone by in the last few months that I haven't visited. Great stuff.

Re: New from Tulsa

Thanks! Definitely post pics of your truck. Can't wait to see it. I love my 78and I'll have it forever since it's sort of a family heirloom, but 67-72's have always been my favorite. I would like to pick up a nice shortwide when the budget and time allows.

Re: New from Tulsa

Thanks guys! Hey krue, I see your a Dave Ramsey fan. Congrats on being debt free. My wife and I have been following his plan for about two years now and we're pretty darn close. Of course buying this truck wasn't part of the plan, but I've wanted it since I was ten and since it's been in the family for 30 years I think Dave would understand . My mom and dad actually teach the material at a church here in Tulsa. We're all lifetime members. I recommend it to everyone I know. Glad to see it's working for other people too.
