new carb for 350 ?

I was looking to get a carb for my 350 with a mild cam,intake,headers-I was thinking either the edelbrock 1406 600 or the edelbrock 1826 avs 650..which would be better?-thanks

I don't think you can go wrong with either carb. A lot of guys on the Board running the 1406. The Quick tune air valve on the Thunder Series sounds interesting, lets you tune when the secondarys kick in. I had a 750 cfm Performer on a 350. I know a little big, but it ran great.

I went with a Holley HP650. we tuned it and it works outstanding....

I put an Edelbrock AVS on my 383 stroker motor and the 650 CFM rating of that carb over the 600 CFM rating of the 1406 made a great difference in the top end performance, while giving a decent street performance. The AVS adjustability on the secondaries lends to a smoother transition into the WOT condition. The standard GM 350 engine does not use enough RPMs in street driving to go to a 750 CFM carb effectively, especially on a heavier vehicle like a truck. If you were running a Camaro and it was geared low, then the 750 will give you plenty of performance, but otherwise you tend to slough off deposits on your valves. The 600 CFM carb is a good street unit, but the top end is limited in RPMs, so the 650 CFM AVS design makes it a good selection. Take that carb and do the fine tuning with the jets and needle rods and you can get good daily use.

I had great luck with a 1406 on a ZZ3. Right out of the box!!
