Re: speedometer delete

no fluid is in speedo cable so your leak is from the tranny where the sending unit is//

Nope, there's no transmission speedometer delete... If you really just want to plug the hole, you could plug it with some sort of epoxy (after a good cleaning), find a wooden dowel that would fit in there sorta tight and tap it in place, or weld it shut...

But, if it were me, I'd just take the plastic driven gear, count the teeth, go over to the Chevy dealer and get a replacement along with a housing "O" ring seal. Maybe get the whole housing asm and the gear. I think I paid less than $20 for the whole thing last year. Napa may sell them also.

Re: speedometer delete

If you really want it gone, remove the whole gear driven unit, and replace with a freeze plug. The 4x4s have a freeze pug in that hole from the factory because the spedo cable is driven off the transfer case on them.

Re: speedometer delete

I guess if you never sell the truck, it would be O.K. , but if are ever in a situation down the road where you want to sell, or have to sell the truck, that will be a huge minus for the buyer. Just a thought.
