Question How-To or Where-To?

Hey guys,

I'm not new to the forum, but I'm new to restoring vehicles.

My 71 GMC 1500 will be my first restoration project ever.

I've scanned the forums for a How-To or Where-To start on the restoration of these trucks and could not find much.

Does anyone have a guide or list on where to start and what to accomplish?

Heres my concept:

Exterior
- rust removal
- body work
- prime
- paint
Interior
- ??
Drive Train
- engine
- transmision
- breaks
- rear-end
Electrical
- ??

How's my list look so far? Basically I'm trying to find out where to start.

I'm thinking of trying to get it reliable as a driver for a bit (minor drivetrain work / engine work and just general cleaning ) I will probably end up having to pay someone to do most of the body work, unless I can find some really good information on the internet or some nice replacement panels.

I will post some pictures of my ride when I get home!

To paint a picture its a $2000 truck that needs everything, and I dont know where to dig in.

Shooting for a nice driver and I'm a little hesitant to go straight for the frame off resto.

Re: How-To or Where-To?

I always like to make mine road-worthy and safe. Then I start gathering parts to make it look better.

I like to drive them a while and figure out what I want to do with them in the future.
