New And Bring my 73
Hello all. I am new to the site, and I bring my 1973 Chevy 3/4 Ton Camper Special. This truck was bought new by my grandfather in 1972 in California. It has a 454 and a 400 trans with cooler.
The motor is a GM factory rebuild that was installed in 1991. It has 9500 miles. A stroke prevented them from traveling any longer so the truck sat... As he is getting very old and no longer drives. I have decided to no longer procrastinate on my idea of getting it back on the road... It will be my Daily driver and hopefully get a cabover camper at some point for the wife and I. In 4 weeks that I have had it I have given it a FULL tune up, replaced dist. to HEI, removed smog pump, and had the carb rebuilt. Tomorrow it is of to the trans shop for complete rebuild and case swap (Orig. has crack)... I am going to do more as time and money allows and will be a great project for me. Any input from the members on ideas would be great. Keep in mind that the truck was taken care of well with all receipts, but has been sitting for 12 years. i will post pics tommorrow of my progress.. Thanks

Welcome to the site. As far as ideas on what to do. When we see some pics we can answer that a little better. It sounds like it is a nice truck, and an awesome history to go with it. That's priceless in itself.

Welcome aboard! I love the story you told us of the truck! As said above, the history of a truck is always cool. Especially one like that.

Re: New And Bring my 73
Okay, it's tomorrow and I don't see any pics. Well, I guess there are a few more hours left in the day, so I'll try to be patient.
J/K! Welcome to the board. Can't wait to see it.

I need help with posting pics. I am trying to attach them but uploads keep failing? I always take my pics at the highest quality. Is this why?

Re: New And Bring my 73
Welcome from Tx. Cant wait to see the pics . I post pics by opening my pics with MS paint and resizing them to 640x480 or just a little less . I usually resize at 25 percent of the original in both directions and then save them . That has worked for me .

Re: New And Bring my 73
Nice truck, its nice to have something like that handed down to you, and with a 454 at that. Got any interier pics, I think the interier of the 73-76 square bodies look cool.
