push button starter question

i installed a push button starter - i turn the key, push the button, she starts but i cant shift into gear - i'm locked out -

i am not using the neutral safetey switch at all - i ran a jumper wire between the connectors on the NSS but still the same

with the engine off i can turn the key into the "1st" position and shift all day long

but once the key is in the "2nd" or farthest position before you have to apply pressure for cranking can't shift

what should i do to get the column to unlock the shifter when in the 2nd position?

thx u geniouses!!!

Are we teaching people how to steal trucks now? I have to ask the same question, Why the push button?
What are you working on? Are you having trouble with the gear shifter, or with turning the ignition lock cylinder?

Re: push button starter question

I would say that this is a column problem totally unrelated to the starter. If the shifter won't work with the key in the "run" position, it doesn't matter how the engine starts.

my wording may have came across like i was getting pissy about it or something.i was just wondering like longhair what was his intention? is he trying to get around fixing some problem he doesn't know how to fix.i guess i don't get what he's trying to accomplish.
