Re: clock install for gauge cluster

There's been some guys that have done it. Maybe a search on this forum might help you.

I've been looking for one to intall on my 68 GMC. The aftermarket ones I've seen all have the bowtie or Chevy/chevrolet markings on them. I'm looking for a generic one.

There's probably more. Search (advanced) for clock, going back a year in "all open forums".

The first picture in in the first of the two links that ETsC10 posted is my truck.

I pulled the clock out of a mid 80's Suburban. The yard charged me around $5. It has two wires coming out of the back. One is black the other if I remember correctly is orange.

On your bench test the clock with a battery. Orange on + and black on -.
If it works, pull your dash bezel and disassemble it.
In the open hole (the one that is a vacuum or air gauge on bigger trucks), install the clock. Run the orange wire to an always hot terminal on the fuse block through an in-line fuse holder.

I learned how to make the hole in the clear plastic of the bezel on this forum. Drilling will probably crack the old plastic. Measure twice then heat up a nail with a propane torch or cigarette lighter and use it to "melt" a hole.

Plastic polish to remove the factory painted markings on that soon to be formerly open hole and put it all back together.

I have photos of when I did the work only they are not on this computer. If there is interest I'll find them and post 'em here.

Installed mine years ago out of a later 73 up model truck. No wires just spade connectors on the back of the clock. Hot wire ground and your done. Drill a small hole through the lens for the stem and mount it.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
