You haven't been reading the news lately -- that story is 2 weeks old.

In more current news, Chrysler assets have been given to Fiat, Geely (A chinese company) is pursuing Saab, and Renault is contemplating buying Saturn.

Yes, very much so but at least 1993-1996 was a decent follow up. The latest FWD Impala SS didn't really carry the nostalgia of a true Impala SS but it was still fun to drive. Torque steer wasn't that bad.
