BARN FIND....Need some help with ID on this truck

Hey Guys,

My Dad sent me these pics today of a Barn find that he is interested in...

He didn't give me a whole lot of info on it either other than it is a 1 ton dually (4400 is on the cowl) that he and my brother are wanting to fix up as a shop truck (they own a landscaping business)...

Question....how can I tell what year it is?

Re: BARN FIND....Need some help with ID on this truck

It looks like a 1950 to me.

Split windshield, grill and twisty-style door handles tells me to say 1950.

What does the VIN say?
Look for it on the driver's side door post.

Re: BARN FIND....Need some help with ID on this truck

Hey Thanks ezekiel for the quick response....He wasn't able to get the VIN....wanted to ask the little old lady in the house on the property before he snooped anymore...she might be a really good shot...if you know what I mean!!!LOL

Another question for all.....Anything he needs to be on the look out for on this truck that might make it a REALLY good find??

Re: BARN FIND....Need some help with ID on this truck

It's definately a 48-50. 51 had wing windows, atleast on the 3100 and 3600 Sorry not more help. Most of these trucks had bad rot in the forward cab mount areas as well as front floorboard and cab to front fender areas. Nice thing is there are a slew of places to get repacment parts as well as patch panels for all these area. From the pics though it looks like a pretty "straight" truck.

Re: BARN FIND....Need some help with ID on this truck

other than solid sheet metal, it's hard to say there are any features that would make it a "really good" find. These things are way more simple than the 67-72 trucks.

Now cars from this era, and earlier had all kinds of weird gadgets in them. Just not trucks.

I would guess a functional radio would bring some good coin though.

the only thing making it slightly more rare is that if its a long bed as opposed to short bed. the one piece window is sought after as well.

Cool find, hopefully you can get it before the lean-too falls over and does damage to the cab and hood. The posts and roof rafters look like they are leaning and coming apart. There are a couple of those running around here with later Alcoa rims that are real nice. Keep it stock, using it for the landscape business you won't be moving that fast with a load anyway and those old tranny are geared for low speed work!
