Holley Rebuild Tips and Tricks

Have a Holley 4150 stlye carb that is a 830 CFM, I am alomost finished with the rest of my build and need to rebuild the carb. I bought a Holley Trick rebuild kit that I plan on using. I have always been scared of tearing into one of these but I hear if you take your time they are not that bad. Any of you guys have any tips or tricks that might make the process go a little smoother.

The motor is a 468 BBC,iron heads, with a Comp X-Treme roller cam, Victor Jr. intake and 9.5 to 1 comp.

Take a bunch of pics from all angles with a digital camera before you get it tore apart, then if ya get confused you have that to go by. Get a can of carb dip, and 3-4 cans of spray it aint as hard as everyone says. make sure you have a good exploded view diagram to go by too.

Just follow the instructions that come with the kit. Holley carbs are easy.

When I do a HOLLEY it seems the old gaskets are hard to remove. The TRICK is PAINT STRIPPER. It will soften up the gaskets and Clean up the carbon and other gunk and wash off with water. Make sure you adjust the accelerator pump arm to remove any clearence at idle. Idle mixture screws 1.5 turns out from seated and put the new cork o-ring gaskets around them. Adjust the floats so fuel just trickles out of the float bowls when you bump the front fender with your knee. Make sure you use the correct gasket around the power valve.
