Almost looks like it just clamps on to the drip rail.

Re: Off-Road Light Mounts

Yea, that's what I thought. I looked it up in my back issues of 4wheel&offroad magazine. A "vintage" 1979 issue, and I was right, it say's they were made by Hickey. Good luck finding any of those still out there eh? Maybe I'll think about mounting them on the frt bumper instead. Sure think those Hickey's look cool though!

Re: Off-Road Light Mounts

I thought I needed off-road lights, but then I relized by the time night falls I start drinking lots of beer and kick back at camp with a nice fire. When I first got my blazer I wheeled it drunk twice...both times I broke my truck so I vowed never to wheel drunk again (never a good idea in the first place) hahaha! Damn kids!
Anyway I do have lights mounted to my bumper ~never realy use umm..

With light up there I would guess routing the wires might be an issue, be neat to see how they route.

Looks like in addition to the little shields that mount to the bottom of the lights you need to paint the hood of your truck black to prevent glare!

Re: Off-Road Light Mounts

Yea, got thinking about that. With as much lift and tire set up as I'll be running, those lights would be shining too far away to do any good! I still think they look cool! Anybody seen them before?

Re: Off-Road Light Mounts

I remember those lights. Never had them on mine. I always go very slow off road at night. But been with friends who had them, and yes they do clamp to the rain gutter. And no they don't glare on the hood. They light the hood up a little, but the glare is the other way. And they use such a pencil beam that they stay off the hood mostly. The purpose of them up high was to light up the holes. With low mounted lights when you come to a hole at night, it's just a dark shadow could be bottemless pit. But for most people they were just for show.

Re: Off-Road Light Mounts

I was just looking at the mounts, I have a pair of vintage KC'S I want to use. Did those mounts come with the lights attatched to them?

Re: Off-Road Light Mounts

The mounts went under the drip rail with allen bolts through from the top.

Re: Off-Road Light Mounts

Cool, don't really like the thought of drilling holes in the drip rail. That looks like the same type of mount w/out the shields. Any markings or ? on them anywhere? I'm thinking any shields like that from "back" in the day would be rusted away!
