Weatherstripping advice needed
Anybody have some good weatherstripping application advice? Got my truck back from the paint shop some time ago, and though it's just been sitting, about half the new door weatherstripping has come off. What's the best way to re-prep the area, adhesive to use, application method? Thanks for the help - I really appreciate this web site!

I got some advice from someone here and it works perfect. Junkyard, look for mid 90's Chevy trucks and get the stripping ouuta there. I did and works and looks great. These have the metal strip inside so you need no glue. Just fit, cut excess off at the bottom and then cruise.

Use 3m adhesive remover
followed by total prep wax and sillicon remover followed by 3M8008 weather strip adhesive Make sure to use the 8008 - 3M has several products out on the market and this one is normally used by the body shops and kept in the commercial area at Auto Zone - you need to ask for it

I'm using the press on type of seal from GMC Paul's. Took a while to break in, but they seal real well and are easy to install.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Wish I'd known about the non-glue options before I started all this - sounds simpler and easier. Since I have the new rubber already, I'll try the strip/reglue and see how it goes.
