The Munice is sitting patiently on my bench (has been for over a week now) for the gaskets and seals to come in.

Notice the shifter assembly...how does this mount to the tranny ??

I'm assuming it originally was mounted in a center console of a car....as I got it from a guy who was going to drop it in a Camaro.

I'm assuming i have to build a mount ??

Your missing a cast aluminum piece that mates the shifter to the trans. It bolts on the rear tailstock. You can see the mounting holes in your picture. Bollt on the bracket and then bolt the shifter to that. There are threaded holes in the bracket.

Do a search on evil bay for a muncie mount to see what it looks like. Actually I think the new ones are a stamped steel piece instead of the aluminum part. I got an aluminum one when I ordered my shifter 56 Belair. I've been lurking on here because my son is doing a 61 PU and we have learned quite a bit on here. thanks for the welcome.

There is a shifter support plate. I have a nice GTO restoration guide that has plenty of good diagrams on the Hurst 3&4 speed setups mated to M22. Let me know if you would like to borrow it for reference.

There are a couple different mounting plates. I think the cast aluminum ones are intended for passenger cars, as they position the shifter lower which is how your shifter rods look they are designed for. There is a fabricated steel bracket that positions the shifter up higher, which is great for our trucks, but it requires shifter rods that are pretty much straight. I can get you a pic if you like Chief.

Go to an old school tranny shop they usually have shifters and plates just sitting around. The last one I needed the guy just gave it to me. What seats do you have in your truck? I currently have buckets and an M21 so no shifter issues. I just got a late model 40/20/40 with integrated seat belts and fold down console. I am going to have to fab a "Z" shape adapter to move the shifter stick forward.

I am running the stock bench.....Not worried too much about the shifter, just need to mount it.

Rocka,

If I can remember, I will be towing my buddies 64 from Hollister to San Leandro next week. I could probably meet up with you along the way. We found a handle sourced through Summit (hurst or something) then I fabed up a bracket to hold it in place. We could pop it out with in minutes and trace it.

That shifter looks like it will work. The bends look just right to clear the seat once the gate is bolted to the back of the tranny.

I did some more searching...and found different install kits for Hurst shifters.

They list different mounts and levers for Pontiacs, Vettes, Camaros, etc.

Looking at the pics...it seem the kit intended for the "Vette" places the shifter the closest to the front....

Anyone have any thoughts on this ??
