Door repair ?'s
#1- I need to replace the lower portion of my passenger door.
The new patch panel doesn't have the recesses in the jambs that the originals do. As you can see in the pics the lower hinge replacement bracket has a step in it for the recess. Have any of you had to replace the lower door and hinge mounting bracket and what did you do? #2- On my drivers door the upper hinge nuts have fallen off. Other than that the door is in good condition. They don't make a replacement bracket so I have to replace the nuts. option 1 would be to cut an access panel on the outer door skin and just weld some nuts on the bracket. Option 2 would be to cut the bracket and inner door panel out and do it that way. Just looking for some opinions on how you guys might do it. Kim |

Re: Door repair ?'s
Here is an old thread I made of how I repaired my doors.

Re: Door repair ?'s
Oh and by the way no cutting the pillar with those cage nuts. I use the screw to hold it in place drilled two 1/8 holes and plug welded them in place. I hope this helps.

Kabwe
Thanks for the replies. The nuts that fell off are the ones that hold the hinge to the door. Did your lower inside patch panel have the recesses in it that the original doors have on the jamb? Mine is smooth. I think I can get by just cutting the step on the new bracket off. Kim |
