Duramax diesel

Hey all,I'm looking for some feedback from owners of the Duramax diesels. I'm looking to possibly buy an 01-02. I'm looking for a 3/4ton,extended cab, short box,4 wheel drive. I like the style of these years. I've always been into the 67-72s, and currently have a 95 Z-71 short stepside, but it's getting a little tired, and I will need something to tow my current 68 short stepside, and my 21' boat every now and then. Any feedback, pos or neg will be appreciated. Thanks all

Re: Duramax diesel

I absolutely love mine. I have very few mods done to it, but it is very impressive to me the way it runs. It's quick for its size/weight, and talk about pull! geez.. Here's a couple pics of mine to get you started.. lol

Re: Duramax diesel

Nope. No injector problems at all, and all I have to say about the tranny is wow.. I have heard about some recalls on the injectors & such, but I have had no problems out of mine. I don't drive it every single day, but it does ALL my heavy lifting. We're sittin' at 114k now, and the only problem I have had since I bought it (used) was the sensor in the passenger rear door has quit working and it gives me the message "right rear door ajar".. lol

Almost forgot, yea it is an allison.. Check my signature.

Re: Duramax diesel

I love mine. Best truck I have ever owned, period. Mine has 135,000 on it now and have NEVER had a problem. No injector issues, trans issues, nothing. I drive it every day back and forth to work (35 mies each way) and it gets 21MPG on the highway. And by the way, it will pull ANYTHING you hook to it.

Re: Duramax diesel

Forgot to tell you, if it has a Duramax, it has an Allison. GM didnt put anything but the Allison behind the Duramax.

As long as it was an automatic. For a few years they offered a 5 speed manual, and a 6 speed manual. I wanted the 6 speed manual, but I've been more than happy with the Allison!

Re: Duramax diesel

Thanks for the info ,I will be getting one, it's just a matter of time, and I want to see whats going on with this economy. I'll be looking for the "super deal" on a nice used one, and I want no payments, I've never had a car payment. So,it might be a little while, I'm a little gun shy to drop the cash right now. Unless one of you guys want to sell dirt cheap!Lol Thanks again
