1968 chevy 327 carb

Does anyone know where i can get a carb for my '68 c50? The thing is that it has to have the vaccum powered governer on it and no one seems to have one.

Do you have to have a governor?
Reason I ask is I have a 427 T.D.It had a huge Holley 4-barrel on it(with the governor under it) and leaked really bad.I just put a quadra-jet on it and it's running. But it's not in a big truck.

I don't know much about needing the governer. I cut the line off of mine to see if it would run and it did but at a high idle and my dad said that doing that i would have a very high chance of burning a valve. Do you still have the 4bbl carb that you took off?

Yes,I do,but mine is a 427 engine and it won't run very well on your's even after a rebuild.I put a Holley back on mine(not a quadra-jet like I said above). It just sits on the floor in the shop when I run it.
Does your distributor have a vacuum advance?Mine doesn't.You may have to put one on it to make it run right without the governor.

This is just and idea...contact the Site Vendors and they might be able to give you some solid leads. Thats what I would do. Hope this helps. By the way... from Ohio.

Here is a link to our Vendors...the three listed below is who I would start off with.
Classic HeartBeat-WES
GMCPauls-Paul
Christian Classics-Tim
Good Luck with your search.

By the way...if you become a Site Supporter you could post a WTB (Wanted To Buy) and there is a good chance you could pick one up at a very good price. Just an idea.
