Fuel in my engine oil ??

Well i am having some problems with fuel getting into my engine oil. The carb has just been re-built. Its not a daily driver, its still in progress and only gets moved around about once a week. I cant seem to think of anything except maybe my float level is to high???? Any other suggestions would be awsome

Thanks Pat

Does it still have mechanical fuel pump? If so, that is most likely the culprit, sometimes they spring an internal leak and leak fuel into the block. Truck may still run just fine, but this is most likely to cause.

if your inlet needle isn't seat properly when the float rises it could with the engine off have a very slow siphoneffect flooding the carb and the gas washes thru intake down into the motor

having the wrong fuel cap can do it too. If you need a vented cap, and it isn't vented, the tank heats up with the heat of the day and direct sunlight too, it vents through the only port, the fuel line, pushing past the needle and seat in the carb, and sprays fuel into the engine.
Not likely, but very possible.

Re: Fuel in my engine oil ??

Fresh rebuild on carb ? Is it a Holley? If so, a common mistake is not fly cutting or using a good flat file on the carb body and metering blocks. After literaly thousands of heat cycles, and the stress of being bolted together, the aluminum surfaces become warped. Alot of people just take them apart and throw new gaskets in them. If it is not brought back true, it will leak, causing most of the carb horror stories we all hear.

If it was fine before you rebuilt the carb, and now have an issue...it is probaly the carburator, float, needle or rebuild?

Qjet's are known for leaky well plugs. Take it off the truck, sit it on the work bench full of gas, check for leaks.

Edit: It might be a pretty slow leak, so you may just want to put it on the bench overnight to see if stays full, remembering to put a metal pan under it before heading in for the night.
