Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
I hope they design the collapsible option into the First Gen Blazer top. I hate having to take the canvas off of my Bestop every time I want to take it down.

Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
Just out of curiosity, if these tops come out will there be any desire left for the original ones that everyone has paid so dearly for in the past??

Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
I hope they follow through too! And hope it will be reasonably priced. These factory hard tops suck; they're heavy, hard to handle taking on & off, and leak like crazy. Makes me want to switch to a 2nd gen blazer again every time I fool with it.

Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
I don't know anyone who still has an original soft top. If you're asking about the guys who bought remaining stock or used soft tops from places like e-bay, it will just depend on how these look, work and what they sell for.
For the past several years, the only option was to hope to find one used in good shape or have one made. When the canvas wears out on mine, I'll probably look into having someone make a replacement since I like the style of the STC Fastrac, but I'll still be curious how these new ones look. I still have doubts of them actually coming to fruition since there have been rumors from other manufactures in the past.

Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
They will probably be around $1k also based on the price of the 76 and up blazer.

Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
VTBlazer - what I meant was that since the side and rear windows of the Bestop do not come out, and there are only two bows, when you do "fold" it down it turns into a big wadded mess with your windows all creased up. That pic of the collapsible top on the site had removable windows and a lot more bows to neatly fold the canvas into a manageable pile. One could only dream...

Yeah true, it does require folding the windows up. I hope the ones they make for our K5's are tighter than the one in those pics, personally don't really care for the look. |

Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
So, chevy2racr, are you going to tell us what those pictures are all about? If that's the new Softopper, it looks great. How much did it cost? How was the installation? Delivery? Warranty? Etc., etc., etc.

Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
Looks great, I wonder if the snaps will line up with the best top snaps? I emailed them with that question.

Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
This is the email I recieved back. I asked if we could install the snaps on the top if we bought one, I have not recieved a reply yet. I sent them a link to the site and this discussion. I hope they check us out.
Hi, The snaps start in the center and are 4 inches apart except for the last two on each end, guite similar to the old Bestop. I do not know the exact distance right now but the last 2 are a little closer together. You may only have to add a couple of snaps to the vehicle or top. We have little snap kits that we could send you. There are no snaps on the rear. Take a look at the 3rd. generation top on our website and look at the pics. The 69 to 72 will be the same at the rear. We are really happy with how came out. Thanks, Larry |

Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
Hey Folks, My name is Michael Palmer and I contacted Softopper about 4-5 weeks ago asking if they would produce a 1st Gen soft Top and they were very interested, and since I asked and posted my finding they have answered with what looks like a beautiful new design. I have additional pictures that aren't posted to there website that I will post here. They are still working on the rear hatch door so there aren't any pictures of it. The black Blazer had a Best top so they used the snap holes for the front edge that were already drilled on this truck.
I hope to get the first top and report on the installation process. Michael Palmer |

Re: New soft tops available in JUNE!!!!
Great looking top, hate the snaps. I might get one and fashion a "snap plate" to bolt onto the windshield frame so I don't have to drill mine.
