my truck build!!
Alright I thought I might as well start a build thread since I might actually start doing some work again. Quick history on my truck 1969 fleetside longbed custom/10. Basic 350/th400 combo with a open 3.08 in the rear. found my beat up green truck in stonyford california. Was my aunt's truck for a long time and was also my great uncles till he passed away. He was pretty mechanically skilled but he did some weired stuff. Reinforcing things with chicken wire that didn't need it. funky wiring and an A/C power socket that gives off unregulated DC from the alternator at a flick of a switch . Anyways probably should add some pictures.Brought home my truck about a year and a couple months ago so this is just like a quick montage of what ive done and where i am now.
some pictures when i first found it |

Re: my truck build!!
made sure and keep the registration up to date or put a non op on it so you can keep the old blk and yellow plates. Other wise the DMV might take them from you when you re-register it.

Re: my truck build!!
So I found it Popped in a new battery then got it ready to go but then we realized we had a starter that was totally burned up. So we had to drive home which was 5 hours away and come back next weekend with a new starter that didn't fit. So me and my dad pulled the guts out of the new one and put it in the old one and off we went! It was a slow 50mph drive home I was surprised it got us home It had a water leak (freeze plug) and later we found out the U-joint were practically turned into dust. anyways we got it home and started to figure what needed to be done. we changed the U-joint first
Then i went to the back with my trusty hat and soldering iron to fix some really bad connections Then I proceeded to clean the interior and freshen up the engine compartment sadly I could'nt find a picture of my interior after i cleaned it up so heres my current dirty interior And my option list |

Re: my truck build!!
So the engine comparment got cleaned next
then a few days later the fuel pump crapped out fun.. Then the truck was enjoyed for a good 6-8month period while it got a true dual exhaust and other various things like a stereo higher output alternator, voltage regulator, new carb, ignition upgrade, new plug wires, spark plugs, and a really thorough cleaning |

Re: my truck build!!
Then me and my bud got bored and said he said "hey maybe we should paint your bed it looks bad..." I agreed.
and then after sanding and rust killing in the cheap spray paint primer stage then all done Then I got bored again and said hey dad lets fix the a/c since it still had a full charge of R12 and the clutch was just burned out on the compressor easy right? well it took about 6 straight hours but i got it! then the engine ate dirt |

Re: my truck build!!
So i finally got outside today to take some pictures of the truck as it sits now waiting for its new engine. and as i tear down the engine piece by piece in the little spare time i actually have.
The timing chain sprocket pretty much ended up shearing itself on about half its circumfrence which was pretty bad The timing chain was super slack and chewed up the timing cover on the way out as well its organized chaos at the moment under my hood she also stopped running at 91280 miles exactly |

My dad and I are planning on pulling the motor sometime in the next two weeks then poppin in a new crate 350 a week later so I'm pretty stoked My lonely chevy but on the lighter side of things as I cleaned up the garage for our garage sale i stumbled upon a pack of .30-06 Armor piercing rounds pretty sure these are really illegal |

Re: my truck build!!
Done a lot of work so far. Got my truck towed over to my uncle's so I could work on it, thanks to AAA. Soon as the truck got there we broke out the cherry picker disconected everything and pulled then engine. We got it on the stand and I began the teardown as my dad an uncle removed the transmission. I found some pretty bad looking bearings and a strange choclate milkshake looking mixture in some bolt holes which I think is water in the oil? Cylinder walls looked pretty good ridge at the top wasn't bad either. Cam had some flat lobes, and there was a lot of stuff in the pick up and the bottom of the pan. Picture TIME!

Re: my truck build!!
I had my transmission inspected and it was thrased( according to aamco) and they wanted to rebuild it for 2100 dollars NO WAY! SO we bought a new Tci streetfighter for half of that It just showed up yesterday so I don't have pictures yet but will soon. My new engine also showed up My powercrate 350 from yearone it made 403.6 hp at 5700 rpm and 414ftlbs at 3300 rpm. Pretty good for 2900 dollars, Everything is super clean and solid as well so I'm happy. While waiting for that to show up I did some cleaning primered my hood and other little things. The beer is my dad's Im a coke guy
The battery tray is thrashed and i don't want to buy a new one so I just cleaned it up and the hood found some rust in the rad support.. Blech! and then here is me caught off guard |

Re: my truck build!!
Well it certainly took a long long time to save for it, haha I was saving before the engine blew so when it did we toughed it out (me and my dad) for another month, and bought a yearone power crate. I'm really happy with it great worksman ship and dyno run for 2990.00 not bad in my book

Re: my truck build!!
So, this Is a really old video before I had all the bugs straightened out, But it'll suffice till I get some time to take it to the back roads and burn off that right rear tire!
