which title??
Got a 72 blazer and a 79 blazer. Long story short, I'm thinking about putting the 72 body on the 79 frame and running gear. Got titles for both. Question is....which vin and year will the truck be registered as?

Re: which title??
Whichever you want DMV laws vary from state to state. Check with your local DMV.

Re: which title??
Yeah, that's what I was gonna say....Check with your local DMV. They will probably tell you that if it looks like a 72, title it as a 72.

Re: which title??
I agree. Check with DMV. Here in Illinois it is the VIN on the body.

Re: which title??
Some states now are issuing a salvage title in cases like this.

Re: which title??
Don't some states issue a new VIN plate and title for these multi year hybrids?? In Georgia it would be the VIN that's on the body.
As previously stated...contact your local DMV for the skinny on it...And hold on to both of the titles so your butt is covered! |

Re: which title??
have you checked to see if they're both the same wheelbase?or are you going to cut the frame to fit the body?

Re: which title??
in texas you will use your body tittle. Think of it this way. If a cop sees you in a 71 andyou ahve a 89 registration... you will get pulled over. now on the other hand (keep this under your hat they never check) you are suposed to have the emisions equpment from the year of the engine.. also if you tittle if as 79 you will have to pass 79 safty and emisions. ie lap/ sholder belts and air pump ect.

Re: which title??
my '70 chevy 3/4 ton body is setting on a '72 gmc 1/2 ton frame with a '98 vortec motor(carb). it's title as a '70 1/2 ton chevy. the guy @ the dmv would need a drink after i explained all that to them. the place i got the inspection sticker never looked under the hood.

Re: which title??
lol well that is a mouth full. but you have a same style truck tittle as the one you drive.. going from a 67-72 and tittle as a 79... that a little risky.

Re: which title??
I would say use the title for the 72. Might not affect the cost of registration but If it looks like a 72, smells like one, it is a 72 The DMV people probably wont even know the difference. Did the 79 models have a vin plate on the dash ?
