Re: 14 k for my truck
I guess that all depends on if you want to get rid of it or not.

Re: 14 k for my truck
Mike, I dont understand why you'd sell this truck at any price if you were going to replace it with a similar one. You know the truck that you built and I just cant see finding a nicer one than the one that you have now. Its just about as good as they get....JMHO

Re: 14 k for my truck
For 14K I would gladly hand him MY keys. Not saying that is what you should do. Just saying that is what I would do.
I can always build another one, and for 14K I could have a VERY nice truck. The problem is, they are worth way more to us in sentimental value than in cash value. Let us know what you decide. Beautiful truck though, very tough decision. D

Re: 14 k for my truck
In todays economic standing, 14k is about right. A year ago I'd say your truck would've been worth twice that, but the value's have gone down because of market.

Re: 14 k for my truck
I guess he would. If everything is as nice as the pictures make it look, he is at least 4-6k shy. Paint is a huge expense, and finding a truck that is already painted with a nice paint job is not going to comethat cheap.

Re: 14 k for my truck
It's a beautiful truck and that is why made the offer. Now the but, and that is if you were to take the money and buy and build another similar truck are there enough things you would do different to make it worth selling the truck and starting over.
I've got a friend in Texas who looses interest in a vehicle the minute it is finished. His excitement is in the planning and building and when it is done he is already planning the next one. And I do think you are right in that you may not be able to buy a decent shortie and build it to that level for that price. |

Re: 14 k for my truck
Very nice truck....I would try to bump him to 18k and see if he bites. I have seen some trucks on line not quite as nice going for 16'k it is. Very tempting sometimes and I know first hand to sell everything I owned and start over.
Good luck

Re: 14 k for my truck
I knew a guy in Txd who built some really nice rides. He never finished one, as far as paint and interior. He would always sell and start another.I once asked why he didn't finish them and show them a bit.His reply was that building them was what he liked to do.He liked the concept(though it was always in his head) and the coming together part.Making it run and drive. He would have them in primer and seldom had one longer than a couple of weeks. Most he built were painted trimmed out interior wise and detailed,They were always in the top at shows.
If you like the building then try to get more than his offer out of it since he can't duplicate it for that.If you want to drive and enjoy it for a while then keep it and let him look for one near as nice for that price. He'll be looking for a while.

Re: 14 k for my truck
Well the guy came back today, first he tried to low ball me to 12,500 then back to 14,000. The truck wasn't for sale in first place he just keeps asking. Long story short I don't like the guy and I don't want him to have my truck. So I said no.

Re: 14 k for my truck
Well good for you.
$14,000 seems a bit like a lo-ball offer anyway. And since you don't really like him anyway it would not be cool with him driving it around it he lives in the same town as you.

Re: 14 k for my truck
I know it sounds kinda dumb but if it was someone I thought would buy it and have fun with I might have sold it. But I think he just wanted to turn it and make a buck.

Re: 14 k for my truck
Don't get rid of it, you'll regret it if you do. I still regret getting rid of my 66 mustang. I know, I know, it was a F***d, but I loved that car. Once I have my truck finished, I'll be damned if I ever get rid of it. I know everything has a price, but that seems like too nice of a truck to sell it for $14k.
